Martha's Tale: How a Basset Hound Changed the World
Martha's Favorite Charities
We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give.  Winston Churchill 11/30/1874-1/24/1965

A short while after owning Martha it became apparent that she was a special dog.  It could take us 30 minutes to walk down a city street from all of the attention she gets.  With every ooh, ahh and "look how cute", Martha rolls over & delivers joy to all that encounter her.  I knew deep inside that I had a responsibility to share her gift of healing and spreading joy with the world.  After careful consideration and investigation I enrolled Martha into school to become a Therapy Dog.  It was and still is my goal to have her certified so she can help young children read, and make the elderly smile and feel loved.  However, that mission was sidetracked for the short term when she was discovered by a modelling agency & began her career as an actress & dog model.  I realized with this amazing opportunity, Martha's ability to reach the masses grew drastically.  Together, Martha & I agreed to use the money she makes as an actress and model towards raising awareness of certain causes & donating a large portion of her profits to charity.  This is how Martha asipres to be, the Basset Hound that changed the World.  Below is an outline of the organizations Martha currently supports.

The Good Dog Foundation

http://www.thegooddogfoundation.org/

Martha has most recently become a member of the Good Dog Foundation.  Good Dog’s mission is to elevate the stature and promote society’s understanding of the therapeutic value of the human-animal bond. This is accomplished through the use of professionally-trained and supervised volunteer teams who work to aid the healing process in humans and enhance clients’ quality of life.

Good Dog provides therapy dog services to people in health care, social service, educational and community facilities in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts, and at disaster sites around the country. Its highly-trained and fully-certified volunteer teams each consist of a human handler and therapy dog. Good Dog focuses on work in the four divisions of Education, Health Care and Wellness, Research, and Disaster Response.

Check out Martha's Blog to keep up to date on her adventures as a Therapy Dog. Pictures and videos will be posted of her work here soon.

I LOVE this place!  At one time or another everyone needs some help.  The Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary helps save & protect Farm Animals from abuse, starvation & homelessness.

In November 2011, I sponsored a Turkey.  Such a minor contribution made such a big impact on another living creature.  My sponsorship helped save her from becoming someone's dinner.  Her name is Beatrice & here is some info about her.  Feel free to sponsor & help save an animal of your own!

Bobby & The Strays

Bobby's Mission
Bobbi and the Strays believes that animals deserve our love, compassion, and respect. Our purpose is to undertake rescue operations and to provide essential care for orphaned, stray, abused and special needs cats and dogs. Through rehabilitation, socialization and adoption, we endeavor to provide a humane service to all animals that come into our care. Additionally we generate awareness about the prevention of animal abuse and neglect as well as spay/neuter programs and their important effect on the dog and cat overpopulation crisis.
An avid supporter of Bobby & the Strays, Martha helps fundraise, makes donations, spreads the word about adoptable animals & prays for the day all animals will be safe & loved.
